The activities vary from moonshine tobogganing to the traditional warmth in the local pub evenings. Countless reasons to visit Rauris...
RAURIS is an original and family friendly village with the most beautiful and largest hiking area of the national park 'Hohe Tauern' (the second largest national park of Europe). In the winter it looks like magic. Fairytale like with it's small but fine and delight skiing area.

Either the traditional dining houses or the pub like restaurants, over 45 gastronomic establishments invite to enjoy the local cuisine.

Gold mining from the middle ages still leaves its marks on the infrastructure and architecture. Learn to know Rauris with its many side valleys. For every wintersports vacationer who wants more than just a skiing holiday Rauris is a real treat and recommendation. Enjoy the winter in its fullness is the local philosophy.

Besides skiing and snowboarding at our wide and well groomed slopes you will find a untouched scenic winter beauty of large proportions. Romantic hours during winter hikes, horse coach rides or the moonlight tobogganing at the long tobogganing track, intoxication pub evenings or a visit to the traditional schnaps distillery! But also guided group walking with flares, Snowshoe tours, powder snow safaris, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, ice climbing and winter parasailing. Mountains and impressive winter landscapes are waiting you in an invitingly valley with a pleasant atmosphere where every one feels welcome.

 
 
The Rauriser authenticity
Run through by the Rauriser Creek, the 30 kilometer long side valley of the Salzach has no through traffic. At the bottom of the valley at 'Kolm-Saigurn' (the Rauriser primaeval forest) only hiking shoes and cross-country or touring skis are considered to be means of transport.

The hamlets in the valley have, through time, maintained their authenticity, like Bucheben or Wörth, since history important transits to the 'Glocknergruppe' mountain-ridge.

The evening before 'three kings' the so called Rauriser 'beak raven' wander through the village and spread their turmoil. It is an old tradition, with their call "ga, ga, ga" the ravens are disturbing the households at homes and in après ski bars and slope restaurants. When they find no dust or dirt (something on which the locals are very alert) they are satisfied and move on quietly. Their creatively designed masks, in particular the lively beak and grim instruments like the large scissors are meant to cut off the hands and feet of the poor inhabitant of homes not found clean. •
